On Saturday 8 February 2003 Hull Stop the War Campaign in the disguise of Hull SCOM went into the Hull house of the Deputy Primer Minister, John Prescott, for a weapons inspection. I was asked to join the inspection team as the official photographer for Hull SCOM, my task being to photograph incriminating material found in the house.

The team's intention was to inspect Mr Prescott's house in search of banned materials, equipment and substances that could be used for the manufacture of weapons of mass destructions: shampoo, bleach, washing up liquid, tins of cat food, wheelbarrows, screwdrivers, books, etc...

On arrival to 365 Salthouse Road, on the outskirts of Hull, we found Mr Prescott's "castle" surrounded by the police. We were informed by the officer in charge that the Deputy Prime Minister considered our action akin to "bullying" him and his family and, therefore, we were not allowed to use a megaphone or any other means of public address.

A teacher was arrested and has, since then, being cautioned, for using a megaphone, urging Mr Prescott not to be a coward and come out to discuss the forthcoming attack on Iraq, an issue that he had repeatedly refused to discuss in his constituency of East Hull.
